5 Easy Waltzes, Carolyn Miller

As the title suggests, this book contains five original pieces in ¾ time, at varying difficulty levels. The first two pieces are elementary (pre-preliminary) level and include an optional accompaniment that the teacher or a more advanced student could play for a duet performance. Both Faraway Places and Dance with Me include simple lyrics to help with understanding the rhythm of the melody line, which is shared between the hands. This book is great for students needing to work on the balance between hands and controlling their touch, and the cute names of the pieces – Dance of the Penguins and The Twirling Butterfly – add to the appeal.
