I took this new title home at lunch for a bit of a play through as I love Piazzolla! Many of our younger students won’t necessarily respond to the name Astor Piazzolla like you and I but they definitely will respond to the recognisably energetic tangos throughout. Around a grade 1-2 (AMEB equiv), great for students who want to explore different styles, and dare I say it ‘good for boys’…
The realisation of the sometimes complex syncopation is really well handled. Whilst sometimes the arrangements lack the edge that the originals have, it does suit the level it is arranged for: a player who has around two years under their belts.
YouTube will be a great tool to help you illustrate Piazzolla’s Argentine tango style.
